Queen Elizabeth II becomes the longest-reigning Monarch in British History

The Queen has become Britain's longest-reigning Monarch and she has said the milestone is not one to which she has ever aspired.
Although she said she didn't want a fuss the cheering crowds were out in force on the day Elizabeth II overtakes Queen Victoria to reign for more than 63 years 216 days.
The 89-year-old Queen marked the day with a usual attitude opening the new Scottish Borders Railway by taking a train with Philip and Scotland's First Minister Nicola Sturgeon from Edinburgh Waverley to the Borders towns.

At the opening ceremony in Tweedbank, she said..
"Prince Philip and I are very grateful for the warmth of your welcome on this occasion. Many including you, First Minister, have also kindly noted another significance attaching to today, although it is not one to which I have ever aspired. Inevitably, a long life can pass by many milestones; my own is no exception. But I thank you all, and the many others at home and overseas, for your touching messages of great kindness."
